The Global Ayurveda Academy, USA offers a comprehensive 500-hour Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant (ALC) Certification Program in a hybrid learning format, combining online theoretical instruction, in-person practical training, and guided self-study.

This professional certification program is approved by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) and accredited by the American Ayurvedic Certification and Credentialing Accreditation Council (AACCAC), USA. The curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in classical Ayurvedic principles while developing practical skills for preventive health education and holistic lifestyle consulting.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are prepared to provide Ayurvedic lifestyle education, constitutional assessments, dietary and lifestyle recommendations, and wellness guidance within the non-medical scope of practice established by AAPNA and AACCAC.

Learning Components

  • Online Theory (310 Hours): Interactive lectures covering the classical principles and modern applications of Ayurveda.
  • Classroom Practicum (100 Hours): Hands-on training in Ayurvedic assessments, lifestyle counseling, food preparation, yoga applications, subtle therapies, and case discussions.
  • Guided Self-Study (90 Hours): Reading assignments, reflective learning, projects, and preparation for practical application.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the 500-hour ALC Certification Program will be able to:

  • Understand the philosophical foundations and principles of Ayurveda.
  • Assess Prakriti (constitutional nature) and Vikriti (current imbalance) using traditional Ayurvedic assessment methods.
  • Evaluate the condition of the Doshas, Agni, Ama, Dhatus, and Malas.
  • Develop individualized Ayurvedic lifestyle, dietary, and daily routine recommendations for wellness promotion.
  • Apply Ayurvedic nutrition, culinary herbs, yoga, meditation, and subtle therapies to support preventive health.
  • Educate clients on healthy lifestyle practices while working within the professional, non-medical scope of Ayurvedic lifestyle consulting.
  • Present and analyze Ayurvedic case studies using classical Ayurvedic principles.

Scope of Practice – Ayurveda Lifestyle Consultant (ALC)

  • The Ayurveda Lifestyle Consultant (ALC) program is an introductory-level course designed for individuals interested in learning the fundamental principles of Ayurveda for personal wellness and preventive health.
  • Individuals who successfully complete this certificate program are qualified to apply Ayurvedic principles for self-care and self-healing and to educate others about healthy lifestyle practices within the scope of wellness education.
  • The scope of practice emphasizes the prevention of imbalance and the promotion of health and well-being through the holistic philosophy and lifestyle principles of Ayurveda.
  • Wellness approaches may include guidance on:
    • Ayurvedic nutrition and dietary recommendations
    • Daily and seasonal lifestyle routines (Dinacharya and Ritucharya)
    • Basic yoga practices
    • Breathing techniques (Pranayama)
    • Meditation and stress management
    • Healthy sleep, exercise, and mindful living
  • Certificate holders may design and implement preventive health and wellness routines for themselves and provide general wellness education consistent with Ayurvedic principles.
  • Graduates are trained to use traditional Ayurvedic assessment methods to evaluate:
    • Prakriti (individual constitutional nature)
    • Vikriti (current state of imbalance)
    • The balance and imbalance of the Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha)
    • Agni (digestive and metabolic fire)
    • Ama (metabolic toxins)
    • Dhatus (body tissues)
    • Malas (waste products)

Professional Limitations

Individuals who have earned the Ayurveda Lifestyle Consultant certificate:

  • Do not practice conventional or licensed healthcare unless separately credentialed to do so.
  • Do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent medical diseases or disorders.
  • Do not prescribe medications or advise clients to discontinue prescribed medical treatment.
  • Refer clients to licensed healthcare professionals whenever medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment is appropriate.
