2000-Hour Professional Certification Program

The Global Ayurveda Academy, USA offers a comprehensive 2000-hour Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) Certification Program in a hybrid learning format that integrates online theoretical instruction, in-person practical training, supervised classroom experiences, case-based learning, and guided self-study.

This professional certification program is approved by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) and accredited by the American Ayurvedic Certification and Credentialing Accreditation Council (AACCAC), USA.

Prerequisite

Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) Certification (1000 Hours of Prior Training)

The Ayurvedic Practitioner program consists of an additional 1000 hours of advanced practitioner-level education. Combined with the prerequisite AHC certification, graduates complete a total of 2000 hours of professional Ayurvedic training.

The program is approved by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) and accredited by the American Ayurvedic Certification and Credentialing Accreditation Council (AACCAC), USA.

Curriculum

Learning Components:

• Online Theory (560 Hours): Interactive lectures covering the classical principles and modern applications of Ayurveda.
• Classroom Practicum (180 Hours): Hands-on training in Ayurvedic assessments, lifestyle counseling, food preparation, yoga applications, subtle therapies, and case discussions.
• Guided Self-Study (260Hours): Reading assignments, reflective learning, projects, and preparation for practical application.

Total Ayurvedic Education

• Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant (ALC): 500 Hours
• Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC): 500 Hours
• Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP): 1000 Hours
• Total Professional Education: 2,000 Hours

Scope of Practice

An Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) is trained to provide advanced Ayurvedic wellness consultation and education based on the classical principles of Ayurveda. Graduates of this program are qualified to:

• Provide individualized Ayurvedic wellness consultations for clients experiencing functional imbalances.
• Develop personalized health and wellness plans based on traditional Ayurvedic principles.
• Assess Vikriti (current imbalances) using Ayurvedic assessment methods, including evaluation of the doshas, agni, ama, dhatus, malas, and srotas.
• Recommend individualized diet, lifestyle modifications, daily and seasonal routines (Dinacharya and Ritucharya), yoga, meditation, pranayama, herbal preparations, and Ayurvedic oils according to classical Ayurvedic principles.
• Educate clients on disease prevention and the restoration of balance through traditional Ayurvedic lifestyle practices.
• Apply critical thinking and advanced Ayurvedic knowledge to analyze complex patterns of imbalance and develop comprehensive wellness strategies.
• Present, evaluate, and discuss clinical case studies using classical Ayurvedic methodology.
• Collaborate, when appropriate, with licensed healthcare providers while remaining within the Ayurvedic wellness scope of practice.
• Serve as an Ayurvedic wellness coach, helping clients establish sustainable lifestyle practices that promote long-term health and well-being.
• Maintain professional documentation, ethical standards, and client confidentiality consistent with recognized Ayurvedic professional guidelines.

Professional Limitations an Ayurvedic Practitioner:

• Does not practice conventional medicine.
• Does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prescribe for medical diseases or medical conditions.
• Does not replace the services of licensed physicians or other licensed healthcare professionals.
• Provides Ayurvedic wellness education, lifestyle consultation, and traditional Ayurvedic recommendations within the recognized scope of Ayurvedic practice.
• Refers clients to appropriate licensed healthcare professionals whenever medical evaluation or treatment is indicated.

Program Outcome

Graduates who successfully complete the 1000-hour Ayurvedic Practitioner Program, together with the prerequisite 1000-hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor Certification, will have completed 2000 hours of professional Ayurvedic Practitioner education. They are prepared to provide comprehensive Ayurvedic wellness consultations, develop individualized wellness programs, conduct advanced Ayurvedic assessments, and uphold the highest standards of ethical, client-centered Ayurvedic practice while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Graduation Requirements

To be awarded the Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) Certification, students must successfully fulfill all of the following graduation requirements:

1. Complete the Required Program Hours
   • Successfully complete all 2000 hours of the Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) Certification Program, including all classroom instruction, online learning, supervised practical training, independent study, and assigned coursework.
2. Meet Academic Standards
   • Achieve a passing grade in all required courses, assignments, quizzes, examinations, and competency assessments as established by the program.
3. Successfully Complete Clinical Practicum
   • Complete all required supervised clinical practicum hours and demonstrate competency in Ayurvedic health counseling, client assessment, wellness planning, lifestyle counseling, and professional communication.
4. Complete Required Case Studies and Case Presentations
   • Submit all required clinical case studies and case reports.
   • Successfully present assigned client cases demonstrating appropriate application of Ayurvedic principles, assessment methods, and individualized wellness recommendations.
5. Pass the Comprehensive Final Examination
   • Successfully pass the written and/or practical comprehensive final examination demonstrating proficiency in Ayurvedic theory and clinical application.
6. Demonstrate Professional Competence
   • Exhibit satisfactory professional behavior, ethical conduct, communication skills, and clinical judgment throughout the program.
7. Adhere to the Code of Ethics
   • Maintain compliance with the program’s Code of Ethics, Standards of Professional Conduct, attendance policies, and all institutional regulations.
8. Complete Financial and Administrative Requirements
   • Fulfill all tuition and fee obligations and submit all required program documentation prior to graduation.

Students who successfully complete all graduation requirements will be awarded the Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) Certificate of Completion, signifying successful completion of the 2000-hour professional training program. Graduates are eligible to pursue professional recognition and credentialing in accordance with the eligibility requirements established by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) and other applicable certifying organizations.

Certification Awarded

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be awarded the Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) Certificate by the Global Ayurveda Academy, USA, recognizing completion of 2,000 hours of advanced professional education in Ayurvedic wellness, classical clinical principles, supervised practicum, and case-based learning.

This certification prepares graduates for professional Ayurvedic wellness practice within the legal scope permitted in the jurisdiction in which they practice. It does not confer licensure to practice medicine or any other regulated healthcare profession where such licensure is required.
